The hospitality industry comprises a large number of business types and organizational structures of small bed & breakfast houses to large hotel chains, each with respectively specific requirements for their management.

This elective subject provides an overview of the departmental  structures  of an hotel. You will get an insight into the particular parts of operation management such as front office, housekeeping, room division and sales, along with the area of food & beverage. You will use your knowledge in management to optimize the commodities management of an hotel by planning efficiently to optimize the development of product offerings and to manage the areas of kitchen and service with regard to their staff and organization.

You will develop the skills to translate events from an hotel’s comprehensive marketing concept and to adapt them through briefings to the customer’s requirements. Based on vital project management, you will be able to implement events thanks to classic management procedures from concept planning to the evaluation of results.

You will be enabled to transfer  the system parts of general staff management including staff recruitment, staff evaluation and development, as well as personnel layoffs and staff remuneration, to the specific requirements of the hotel industry.

In this elective subject area you will learn that the hotel industry is a significant training sector and that trainees represent crucial human resources for hotels. Against this backdrop you will, for example, be able to assess the need for trainees with regard to staff planning and to develop respective training programs.
